Are any fish compatible with Goldfish?

I have a 55 Gallon tank with a few medium sized goldfish in it. I want to add a few fish to it. However, I'm kind of bored with goldfish. I thought about trying to add6-8 Giant Danios or White Cloud Mountain Minnows. Has anyone ever done this or have any advice?
