Can mosquito fish go in with guppies?

we went to a lake and found many minnows looked at it and it looked like a feeder guppy with a black oval gravid spot .. i have guppies,mollies.. ect i just wanted to know if was safe

I have a 30 gallon tub pond which is placed in a small patio underneath my deck where it receives dilute afternoon sunlight. It has a filter rated for 45 gallons, and is weatherproofed. It is bare bottomed and has two caves in it for if they decide to spawn. The water temperature is 55 degrees F, but I'll be waiting another two weeks before adding anything. I live in New England. Last year I kept white cloud minnows, but a raccoon got hungry so I moved right up against the house and rosies swim towards the bottom and I got some hornwort so I thought they'd be better suited. Will this setup work? How many to add?

Help?! why are my white cloud minnows dying?

Ok, so ive had 4 white cloud minnows for about a week now. I know people say not to keep them with goldfish but I thought I'd give it a go, they've been fine together until I noticed this morning that one of the minnows was missing half of its face... there was a hole between his eyes where his 'jaw' should have been and hiss gills were all bloody. I moved him to a spare 2 gallon tank as a hospital tank. Unfortunately he died, the other 3 were fine. I took a look at them a couple of minutes ago and another minnows has bloody gills and is just floating near the top. I moved him to the hospital tank and added some 'disease safe' to the water. There is also a sucking loach in the main tank- the chinese algae eating type. Can you please help me to get to the bottom of why they are dying? No harsh comments please and thanks in advance

Also depending on the work out you could be burning fat but building muscle m which weighs more than fat. Your best bet would be to consult a personal trainer about a work out/diet to get to your target shape/weight.

What is better to feed my turtles?

I'm going to petsmart today (the closest petstore that actually takes care of their fish is 45 minutes away) and idk what type of fish to buy for my red eared sliders. I usually got feeder goldfish that the petstore bred so i knew they were disease free but now im at petsmart, the feeders there have a high risk of carrying disease. I was planning on getting either Rosy Red Minnows (The tanks are crowded but they all seem active). Comet goldfish (Very crowded tanks but seem somewhat active). Or guppies (Not in crowded tanks, active, but expensive). If i got the guppies, i was planning on breeding them so i can use them as feeders because guppies look to cool to use as feeders. Remember, these fish are in an outdoor pond and they can't be expensive because they're probably going to be eaten anyways. I don't wanna put those feeder minnows and goldfish (disease probable).

Fish ideas for this outdoor system?

I have a 35 gallon outdoor tub pond with a 45 gallon filter on it. I maintain it weekly, removing leaves and clogs. I used it for white cloud minnows last year, but their surface swimming got them into trouble with fisher cats and raccoons. I though rosy red minnows would be more suited. They are hardier and swim towards the bottom. Right now the temperature is around 55-60 degrees F. The pond is under my deck and receives dilute afternoon sunlight. I live in New England. What other species might work? Flagfish? Mosquito fish?

Keep it fenced in, but that wouldn't be much exercise for the tortoise, or if you really want it, you can fence your outdoor area like a paddock with wood. That way unwanted animals will stay away from it

1 pistol shrimp, 1 small yellow watchman goby, 6 snails, 3 small hermits, 1 sea star, 1 small/medium Ocellaris Clown (this I have so far and the tank is doing good) I want to add a pepermint shrimp, cleaner shrimp, longnose hawk and/or a flame angel. This sounds a bit overstocked to me but I don't know. The Clown needs a tankmate or she will go insane she sits their staring at herself at the tank gl, and staring at the goby haha. I figure this will be ok as the shrimps will help clean up a bit more of the scraps and aiptasia and keep the large number of fish healthy.THe Flame angel should keep the clown company and make the tank much less boring. The oby just sits in his burrow all day and the clown is cool but te tank feels so empty as its the only thing swimming. I want the hawkfish as they are really cool looking and I have the perfect perch in my tank for it on a rock. A Male Betta question?

I have a male crown tail betta and he is blowing a bubble nest right now....I do not have any females in the tank with him but I have 2 in a tank right next to him the tanks are touching each other....but the fish are minnows(mosqiuto fish) and I'm not aware if either are females(and im not sure if my male betta can smell the female minnow in heat.....lol I breed dogs not fish so please correct me if im wronge)Anyways why would he be doing this if their are no females in the tank with him also I watched videos on youtube and theirs had females in the tank with them so thats what made me start thinking about it. And I think it would be cool for my fish to have some babies so do I get a male mosqito fish and see if they breed(oh ,oh I found 4-6 bubbles in my mosuiqto fishes tank do they ddo the bubble deal also or what). Can I add a male betta to my tank with guppies?

Bettas will go after the guppies because they have frilly fins, almost like a betta. Only if you want to see dead fish should you do that. I wouldn't advise it. But there is always a tiny chance it will work. I had my betta in a goldfish tank with no problem. If you do try, keep a close eye out and separate them at any sign of aggression.

How do i catch these trout?

I found a small stream in Northwestern Connecticut that is stocked with rainbow and i think brown trout. On a straight a way, there is a large fallen white pine tree that crosses the stream and lays in the water maybe a couple inches. A bunch of debris has caught on this tree on the upstream side. The downstream side has a deep pool, maybe 7-8 feet. On the downstream side of the tree i can see a group of trout with huge lunker trout just swimming in place facing upstream. The water is super calm there. They hang out just past and underneath this tree. I've tried just about everything to catch these guys. Yard worms on a hook with and without sinker, Power/Trout bait, rooster tails, salmon eggs, tube bait, b head jigs, minnows, lures of all kinds. It is frustrating because I can SEE them just below me when i fish off the tree. The big trout don't even check out my bait. I can catch small ones here and there, but i want a real keeper. Do these bigger trout just not bite? How do i catch them? I am using a closed face reel on a very light pole about 4 ft long, with 10 lb line.

i been in the army for a few years (7) and i hurted my back...i been on 4 deployments and im currently in afghanistan. i have paperwork that says that i was not supposed to be deployed, yet, this unit decided to deploy me anyways, so here i am. I been asking the PA to see an orthopedic doctor our here, which we have them, the PA put in a refferal but the unit, told me flat, that i was going nowhere...so, since i deployed, i been hurting real bad, this unit had asked me to "suck it up" but they dont realize, that i've "suck it up last year" in order for me to deploy to afghanistan. So now that im asking for help because i am hurt and i have paperwork from doctors that I AM hurt, the unit wont send me to ortho at all...what can i do about it? There is no IG in this camp at all.

Seeing as Earth-like planets are much further into space, and travel to them is impossible and will always be impossible, shouldn't we concentrate our time in making our lives better and worthwhile here on earth, and forget about space once and for all? OK, I bought some small fish, about the shape and size of minnows for my aquarium. They were cheap. So I could afford them. They are about 1-1/2" long, freshwater, schooling fish, move around a lot! Grey/clear bodies toward the tail. Grey on top, white on bottom. A black line along the side. A small black line down behind the head, in front of the side fins. I am hoping to get a cat this summer. I plan to adopt and give a deserving cat a good home, but I want to make sure before I adopt one that it will be completely safe and will have everything it needs. My mother doesn't want a cat indoors but she's completely fine with it being outdoors. In order to make it safe and comfortable I plan on building a large (20 ft x 20 ft) enclosure. It will be shielded from the elements and the cat will have a cat door to get in an out at it's own will and a larger door for me. I will put one of those play things in it, a scratching post, toys, food and water, blankets, a bed, and a litter box. I live on a four acre property and often wild animals like deer, rabbits and turkeys will venture in. We have chickens and every once in a while one will be taken by a hawk. Should this concern the safety of my future cat? I have researched heavily but in the end only another cat owners thoughts will be able to convince me if this will be safe or not. IMO too small a tank. 20liters= 4 UK gallons or 5 US gallons. A few small peaceful shrimp like Amano, Cherry or Ghost shrimp (as well as critters like Apple Snails & African Dwarf Frogs) would be totally fine, but i would avoid any shoaling fish (even small ones) as the tank is too small and so the fish may show abnormal behavioral problems- good water quality would also be difficult to manage in the tank. Personally i would just keep a lone male Siamese Fighting Fish/Betta in a tank that size.

People say that goldfish are bad for your turtles because they have a chemical in them that may kill your turtle. Also they are fat too. People recommend feeding minnows and guppies but the problem for me is that my turtles are too slow to catch minnows. I haven't tried guppies though. I'm currently in the breeding process of guppies and I hope that guppies are as slow as goldfish but as healthy as minnows. I used to feed my turtles goldfish but now that i've learned that guppies MAY be an alternate, i can hope my turtles will eat them. my grand daughter is 3. her bio dad had visitation when she was a small infant and he was ordered to pay 400 dollars child support. well, he was a weed smoker, loved the stuff... so he was ordered supervised visitation. he payed a couple of sporadic child support payments, visited her a couple of times and then we never see him again and no more child support for 3 years. my daughter has lived with us and we have been actively helping her raise this little girl. well, here's where it gets bad for us. my daughter was never a drug user, in fact, she broke it off with the baby's dad, cause of his pot use, BUT something in her life went very wrong. still today i can't figure it out.... she got involved with another bad boy, a meth user and now she's strung out BAD. we have her in rehab right now. while she's been living wild, we've had her little girl. well, the cps was called on my daughter and the cps placed her with my husband and myself... well, we didn't know this, but the state has been trying to go after the baby's bio dad for money he owes them for the baby's medicaid. i had no ideal.. well, the cps investigator informed me that the bio dad requested that the baby be placed with him and his family (he still lives at home). the cps told him no, because we are the ones that have been raising her and to take the baby he'd have to pursue it with a private lawyer in court. anyway, she told us to get a lawyer and get custody of my grand baby asap, because she didn't know what the bio dad would do and it's better that he go up against us than to go up against my daughter...when i first realized that my daughter was strung out, i did reach out to the biological dad to help me maybe get joint custody of the baby. he stopped communicating me and acted like he didn't want involved. i was desperate, because she took off with the baby and i feared for her life. well, the cps got involved and placed the baby with me. the bio dad owes more than 20k in court ordered child support, owes the state plus, he was MIA for 3 years. now he wants custody. what are his chances of taking this baby from us?

I use to be friends with a girl from work she started a lot of drama in my life by being her friend. When I told her I didn't want to be her friend anymore she went crazy. White Cloud Mountain Minnow... one won't close it's mouth ...?

We've got 3 white cloud mountain minnows and 1 goldfish in a 5 gallon tank (I know their supposed to be in 10 gal but somehow we forgot we only had a 5 when we bought them...) we've had the white clouds a few days and now one of them won't close it's mouth. I've never seen this behavior before, although we are somewhat new to fish. He also is acting kind of lethargic and spends a good amount of time near the surface of the tank and when we tried to feed him he wouldn't eat. We only tried putting food near him once because we don't want the other fish to eat too much. The other two seem to be doing great. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I read an article about these sorts of things a while back and this is pretty common among younger children of different es due to curiosity. This actually happened to a relatives child, and she never left her children unattended since. I'm sure it is a stage he will grow out of, but I do think it's "better to be safe than sorry" as you said. I'm so sorry I can't give you much advice, because I'm not sure what I would do myself. The best thing I can say is to keep reinforcing that you keep your hands to yourself, and that he and his sister both have areas that are to themselves only! Best of luck with this.

Catfishing a river mouth?

I am taking my buddy out cat fishing tomorrow night, we both really want to catch a monster but have failed so far. We are fishing a lake where a river feeds out one end and into lake michigan, we usually throw out big minnows and catch great pike after dark but still haven't caught a nice cat, and i know they are in there because i have seen them when we bow fish for carp. We park the boat in about 15 feet of water and send out a big river chub and sink it to the bottom, any tricks and tips for catching a big cat where a lake flows out and into a river(this seems to be where the big boys have been caught in the past).

Bettas need a 5 gallon heated tank with a filter. White cloud minnows like colder temperatures and 5 gallons is too small for anything besides a betta. I would not recommend a snail since they tend to make the water smell bad. Also, a tank needs to cycle for at least a week, usually a few days is not long enough. You would be able to add neon tetras in a bigger tank, but they like to school so make sure you have at least 6

Yesterday I went to petsmart and got feeder minnows, for my red and tiger Oscar, I woke up the next morning and half of them were dead, and had white spots on there tails, I thought it was ick, but how could ick kill fish overnight, and when I bought them they were perfect little minnows. Well when I went to feed my Oscar it's regular pellet food my tiger Oscar was rubbing it's body on the rocks and would attemp to swim to the top but he didn't have enough power so he would fall rapidly to the bottom of the tank. He lays sideways on the gravel. I know they do that and are known for it but he hasn't done that since I got him a month ago. The feeder tank was fine. It had a bubbler water conditioner and but no filter it had 15 minnows in it. It is a 2 gallon tank. Is my fish dieing?

My council property has been found uninhabitable am i liable to pay rent and c.tax ? i have no use of kitchen?

My propert was found uninhabitable from 7/1/07, the council took untill sept 10 to find me temp accomidation, they made offers that were retracted but nothing to go to untill 2010, I had mushrooms growing from exposed joists where ceilings had collapsed, rotten/unfunctioing windows, a roach infestation and the list goes on and on, i put in a claim for dis-repair and after a year my legal aid ran out even though the solicitor had not even obtained a copy of my housing file, I was told i would not have to pay rent or c.tax from the date of condemnation but it seems the rent is acalating as they intend to offset it against a successful claim, and c.tax (i was in court this week) are saying if i shut my own door and it is my sole residence I have to pay, the judge said it can not be uninhabitiable if I am living there, despite a letter from the council stating that there own inspector had these findings. The council took me to court once my legal aid had run out to get me to vacate the property they lied about offers they had made and cast me in a really bad light, the judge ordered i move in to temp acc (which is what i had been waiting for for years and ordered the works be carried out) I recieved the keys bk in Jan although the work was supposedly completed in Dec, which in its self is a mystery as inn several letters i have it states the works will take a min of 6 months, when i entered the property they have clearly not completed the works at all I have taken photosand given them to my new solicitor who is applying for an extension of my legal aid as i am scared to move back in as it was said the building needed to be monitored for a full 12 monhs as the front and back of the house are falling off and due to the obviose repairs they did not do i am unsure if the rotten joists have been replaced as new plaster boards are covering it, I need a indipendant surveyor to check the premisis b4 i can move back in and if my legal aid is extendedthat is what my solicitor is doing. but in the mean time I do not know where i stand with the c.tax, I do not see how they can charge a person for living in uninhabitable conditions through no fault of there own if I had some where else to have gone i would have, I am at the end of my teather and running out of people to impose on any advice will be great thanks

Corydoras are cool fish, come in many varieties, and are pretty hardy. I would not have a community tank without at least one, and if space is available, they are entertaining in schools. Kuhli loaches, although entertaining as well, will hide, less so in numbers, but are a little more fragile than Corys. With your space I'd go with a cool Cory.

Why do top scientists such as Stephen Hawking say we should "colonize space"?

We don't have even near the technology, the money, and resources to do such an absurdity. So, unless there will be mive robbery by the government from the citizens and their tax-dollars, there isn't a chance that this will happen. Building colonies on the moon and mars will require more than 10 times of all of the Earth's money. Seeing as Earth-like planets are much further into space, and travel to them is impossible and will always be impossible, shouldn't we concentrate our time in making our lives better and worthwhile here on earth, and forget about space once and for all? It is a useless endeavor, and should only be studied by astronomers and astrophysicists who are being funded by private institutions (university tenured-track professors, most likely), and not my tax-dollars.

Had rude server TWICE at the same establishment. What words are best to use in ltr to Manager?

My husband and I visited the Studio Movie grill late last night. We spend tons of money each month at this location. Sometimes we bring all three of our children, and other times we bring friends. We've told lots of people about this location (there are several). Last night, while watching X-men, I ordered the rib and frys basket (my order on the regular). I always look forward to this meal. Normally the portions are generous. I was into the movie when the server arrived but did briefly notice how small the portions seemed. I was starving, so I just grabbed a rib and bit into it, but I immediately noticed it was mostly bone with maybe a hair of meat on it. So, I grabbed another one, still into the move, and nibbled on it and noticed it had barely just a little more meat on it than the first. Frustrated, I decided to look into the basket and noticed there were 3 super short and tiny sized ribs left with barley meat on them, and the french fry portion was small. I told my server who said he'd take it back to the kitchen. A few minutes later, a different "server" walked up to me and said, "Excuse me, next time you have a problem with the ribs please do not eat any of them." He smirked, then said "It looks kind of strange when you're giving it back to us. But we are cooking you another order and this one will be on me." Trying to get back into my movie, I just said ok. Almost a whole 15 min later, they bring the order back out and everything looks and tastes a lot better. After giving it much thought, I decided that my husband and I spend too much money on this place each month for the server to give me a lecture. I felt he should have just relplaced my order, no questions asked. I then realized, this same rude server was the same server that was pretty rude to us a few months back. My husband and I reseverd our movie seats online. When we arrived, we showed our tickets and was escorted to our reserved seats. Five minutes later, this same server came over to take our order but the first words out of his mouth were, in a very stern tone, let me see you tickets to make sure they are reserved." He was suspecious and asked for us to prove that we belonged in those reserved seats! He then smile, became nice and said, "Ok thank you, you know I just wanted to be sure you weren't sitting in somebody else's reserved seats." EXCUSE ME?! So I feel I've had enough with this server. My experiences are awsome when he's not around. I feel it's time to report his rude behavior but I want to word the letter to his manage just right. Please give me examples of how to phrase or write words that will express my dissapointment with this server. I do want an apology from managenent. But I want my letter to be as short but to the point as possible.

That's perfect, if you have babies they will need lots of hidins, I got some slate from out the garden and put it in boiling water to disinfectant it and with one piece I made a cave and with some others i stood them up against the tank so they have something to hide under. Good luck

Fish Tank (Water) Question?

I have 7 minnows and their water gets really dirty really quick well it got better when I took them out of a 1cup size bowl to a 1gallon size bowl anyways I have to change the water so often that its costing me to much in water the cheapest water I can buy is 89cents a gallon. And I change it every other day recently Walgreen's had a 39cents per gallon sale but I only had 2 gallons left(figures) I have tried the only changing half the water thing ,but the water still looks dirty....so I was wondering if I could use tap water with NovAqua (which im using in the bottled water) into it it takes chlorine and al kinds of stuff out and makes their skin healthier and prevents some kin of slim getting on the scales. Also I have been boiling my gravel when I change the bowls water I also put the bowl in the tub and run scaling hot water on the then wipe them out the a Towel....I never use any chemicals because im scared it will hurt the fish. Oh I have a huge 30gallon bucket in my back yard...if can use tap water can I fill it up with water put however many drops I need to put in and let the minnows live out side (i caught them in the c down the street). This spring, I had been using my laptop (Del XPS M1710) outisde a lot. I have a deck in which the portion below it is enclosed (with the deck as a roof, and big thick-plastic screens as the walls) there are ceiling fans in the enclosed area. I like to smoke my hookah out here with my laptop. I haven't really actually had it in the "real" outdoors. One day I was smoking, and took the coals off of my pipe to go inside for lunch. The same thing happened to me a few times over the spring, and I had no problems with my computer. Over the past couple of weeks, though, I have noticed my speakers have gone to crap and are being really really fuzzy and crackly, even at low volumes. It is virtually impossible to listen to music or enjoy videos on it now. I am wondering if the humidity from the few times it rained has damaged my speakers? Is this possible? Should I be seeing my doctor more often?

I am now past my due date. I have heard throughout my pregnancy that when a woman goes overdue she will be seen more frequently (twice weekly instead of weekly) in order to be monitored more closely (having non-stress tests done) because of the higher risk of complications ociated with being over due. My doctor told me to come back in a week and at the time I didn't question it but now I am. I'm mainly worried because I've had concerns about the baby's movements over the last 2 weeks as it is and now I'm even more worried because I know going over due can cause more problems. Is it normal to still only been seen weekly or should I be seeing my doctor sooner?

Why wont the bigger 2-3lbs trout bite at my bait?

The bigger trout 2-3 lbs i believe, at the lake i fish at will not bite at anything. Im having no problem catching the younger and smaller trout along with blue gill and crappie. I have been using 6lbs test original stern line, so i don't believe the line im using is too big. As far as bait it has been small, kastmaster lures, fake minnows, and worms. All have worked well with the smaller fish, but the bigger trout wont bite at all. I see them swimming the lake shore all the time, but they are not interested in my bait. The lake is Trinity Lake in Northern CA.

What am I doing wrong with my puppy potty training?

you're doing fine! unfortunately...it will take at least the first 6/7 months of a puppies life to get potty trained- just keep taking him out whenever eat eats/plays or after he wakes up from a nap. I know a friend who attached a jingly bell to her door, and started making the puppy hit it before she took it out for a pee, her dog then soon learned when he jingled the bell on his own- it was pee time. Patience is key! Sorry...but puppy training is not a quick thing, it takes time.
