What fish should I get to cycle out my outdoor fish pond?

I was thinking of getting 5-10 big feeder comet goldfish but i heard they carry disease and I don't want my pond to be infected. Are their any other cheap fish I can get for them to just cycle out my tank? I was thinking of feeder minnows too but they are just as crowded as the big comet goldfish tanks.
